Denard and Moore Construction and Interstate Contractors are committed to safety and take all precautions to protect you from injury on the job. All employees of Denard and Moore Construction and Interstate Contractors will comply with the following safety rules.


  1. This is a Drug Free Workplace. No employees will be allowed to work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. If an employee is taking medication prescribed by a physician, they must report that use to their supervisor.
  2. Employees must immediately (the same day as the injury) report to management all accidents that occur on the job or while conducting business off the premises.
  3. All non-emergency treatment for accidents must be authorized by your supervisor.
  4. Employees must report immediately any unsafe work conditions or improperly functioning equipment to management.
  5. Learn the safe method of performing your work from your supervisor and/or job instructor and continue to perform your work in that safe manner.
  6. Unsafe conditions shall be corrected on a top priority basis.
  7. Any machinery found not functioning properly shall be tagged "OUT OF ORDER" and removed from service until adequate repairs have been made.
  8. Employees shall not operate any machinery or perform any job process without adequate training which must include safety as applicable to the equipment or process.
  9. Do not remove or bypass guards on machinery or equipment.
  10. Operation of power tools and machinery, and entry to switch boxes and electrical control cabinets will only be done by authorized operators.
  11. Machinery or equipment in need of adjustment or repair must be stopped and power source disconnected before modifications are made.
  12. Operations are required to verify all electric power tools are grounded or double insulated. Damaged cords must be removed from service. Do not let electrical cords lie on the floor where they may become damaged or be a tripping hazard.
  13. Jewelry such as key chains, bracelets, and rings may become caught on a tool or piece of equipment and result in injury; therefore, they must not be worn while working around moving machinery, or where specifically noted. Hair must be collar level to prevent being caught in machinery. No beards are allowed as respirators can not be worn with beards. Mustaches and side burns must be short enough to not inhibit the wearing of respirators.
  14. Not not remove "DANGER" tags from machinery. No warning notices or barricades may be moved or removed without authorization.
  15. Proper lifting required the use of legs, not your back. Get assistance with heavy loads.
  16. Do not climb on boxes, equipment or materials. Use ladders provided.
  17. Ladders should be stabilized by a fellow employee and, above 12 feet, must be tied off to the building to prevent falls.
  18. Do not use flammable liquids, toxic materials, chemical and acids unless authorized by your supervisor. When using such materials follow established precautions and read the Material Safety Data Sheet provided in the Hazard Communication Program binder. Unauthorized use or misuse of such materials can cause fires or injury to yourself or fellow employees.
  19. Seat belts must be worn when operating a vehicle on company business, on or off site.
  20. Do not mix two or more chemicals or cleaning solutions at any time.
  21. Report all fires, regardless of size, to your supervisor immediately.
  22. Eye protection must be worn at all times. Goggles or face shields may be required, depending on the area and the work being performed.
  23. Hearing protection must be worn when operating machinery or equipment, or when designated by posted signs.
  24. Hard hats must be worn on all construction sites at all times.
  25. Use and keep in safe condition any personal protective equipment and tools provided for your particular job.
  26. Steel-toed, lace-up, above the ankle boots are required at all times. If rubber boots are required they must also have steel toes.
  27. Clothing appropriate to your job must be worn. Any special clothing requirements shall be explained by your supervisors.
  28. It is your responsibility to keep your work area clean by removing scrap or debris.
  29. Smoking will be allowed only in designated areas.
  30. Abuse, misuse or deliberate destruction of company property, equipment, tools or materials will not be tolerated.
  31. Facial hair must be worn per attached sketch.
  32. Indifference or inattention to safety instructions and rules, uncontrolled temper, fighting on company property, failure to protect your own and fellow employees' safety, horseplay, teasing or distracting employees, running, taking shortcuts in performance of your work and throwing objects are all potential sources of accidents. Such actions will not be tolerated.
  33. Any project safety requirements that are different or more stringent than those of Denard and Moore Construction and Interstate Contractors, shall be included herein.
